You’re a real millie, you know that?
The first week of January is always my most gung-ho week. Classes hasn’t become mundane yet. I’m not perpetually seeking for an outlet when assignments start picking up. I’m still trying to achieve my resolutions while they’re still fresh in my mind.
It just got me thinking. Now that I’m working, I want things to be different. I don’t want it to end today. In 6 months, I still want to be gung-ho, I still want to love my job, I still want to continue achieving my goals. And I definitely want to be successful.
True Fact: Only 3% of Americans are highly successful.
There was once a wealthy young man who came to Jesus and asked him how he could gain perfection and immortality.
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” That was the last thing the young man expected to hear. And so, crest-fallen, he walked away. He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and he couldn’t bear to let go.
I don’t believe the point of this story was that Jesus wants us to be poor in order to gain eternal life,
God isn’t against your dreams.

but that it can take ONE thing in life to hinder you from following Christ wholeheartedly.
I realised I could totally get perfection today if all I had to do was to give up my riches. Because ALL MY RICHES= +/- RM 2K in the bank. But I’m pretty sure to carry the cross and follow Christ, my cost would be very different from the young rich man.
Also on a side note: Remember the 3% of American’s that are highly successful? Apparently that same batch consisted of those who wrote down their goals and put it in full view of their conscience. I’m going to paste my 2011 reso’s on my desktop so I can stare at it everyday. In the past I would stuff it in a corner and guiltily shove it out of my mind until Dec because I knew I hadn’t achieved what I set out to do. But not this year. I shall be accountable for my reso’s. Kinda like how God is accountable for His words through the Bible. Sort of.
Better a short pencil than a long memory.
