Despicable Me

He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Isaiah 53:3

I don’t naturally take pleasure in knowing someone else is in pain, but I find strange comfort in knowing Jesus was rejected. Knowing He was a man familiar with anxiety and who was well-acquainted with grief. He was so rejected by his own team that they literally hid their faces from Him. They came to a point of even ceasing to treat him as if he had human feelings, and was in any way entitled to human fellowship and sympathy.

I take comfort because You’re not a God who doesn’t know what rejection feels like. If anything, You’ve taught me that people need more hugs, more kisses, more tolerance, more love, more understanding, no matter what their countenance.

Lord, teach me to love like You do.

On a side note: I miss getting lost in my books.

Thinking of: Imagination > reality and how forgiveness has to be complete.
