BookWorm: The Hobbit

It’s a fantasy tale of hobbits, dwarves and elves battling all sorts of evil and a dreaded dragon for treasure and revenge.

It was completely action-packed. Out of the frying pan and into the flames sort of business.

I thought it was enjoyable but not to the point I couldn’t put it down.

I love the subtle message beneath the warfare exterior, that when it all comes down to it, choose what is more important.

Peace, friendship, love and honour are more precious than gold or silver. At the end we will all go to a place where these things are of little or no worth.

I especially appreciated the riddles and the dialogue between Smaug and Bilbo.

Final Verdict:

Enjoyable. You’d like it if you like action-packed plots. I would rather watch the movie. Personally.

My favourite quotes:

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Thorin Oakenshield.

Why not 5? Was a bit bored here and there. At one point I just wanted to finish the book for finishing sake.

Thinking of: The 40 year old Virgin, shower heads, making it work and Valentines Day.
