Leave the Door Open

Festivals remind us. Stories passed down through celebration. God gave us festivals to celebrate as gifts; as reminders of His unfailing love and ever-present thoughts towards fulfilling His promises to us.

Easter reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice, God sent His son as mediator so that we can have relationship repaired with God. One which was broken now gloriously and fully restored.

The early church had a creed,

I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Just as the Scriptures said. Just as He said He would. He came through.

Theodosius Harnack, the German theologian said, “To me, Christianity stands or falls with the Resurrection.”

If Christ was not raised from the dead, our faith is in vain and we of all men are MOST pitiable.

There is more evidence pointing to Him being raised from the dead than not. Historians and atheists alike have tried for centuries and have miserably failed in proving Jesus’ resurrection as invalid.

Yes, He resurrected from the dead.

Question. Did Jesus have to roll the sealed Roman stone blocking the tomb in order to get out of it?

If Jesus really was God as He claimed, couldn’t He have just walked through the walls to the other side of the tomb? I mean, we know Jesus can do it; He’s walked through a closed door at least once in Scripture and He’s walked on water on another occasion. He’s got no issues messing with the material world. So why not just walk through the tomb walls instead of the tomb door?

If He did that, when He showed Himself to the disciples (and about 500 other people), they would be astonished as if He was Houdini performing the Great Escape.

Why roll the stone away?

For one, His resurrection was not a magic trick. He never came here for our entertainment. He came with purpose. And there is purpose to why He opened the tomb door Himself.

Because some of us just need to SEE with our own two eyes, THE TOMB IS EMPTY.

He is not here, He is RISEN.

Stop looking for the living among the dead.
